The Shadow Event

It was a great Lunar eclipse last night. The cold clear night gave a wonderful view of the shadow event . Even though we understand how they happen from a scientific view, there are still indescribable feelings that happen when we experience something that is bigger than us. Rather than try to understand it all, I would rather stand there in amazement and just appreciate how big God really is.

It is always interesting to me that people try to figure God out. It is one thing to get close to Him and worship Him and even to “Let the mind of Christ dwell in us” (Colossians), but it is a different thing to insist on understanding everything about God. This is a day for absolute trust and faith. It is okay to be perplexed, but it must not become despair.

God is too good to be unkind
He is too wise to be confused
If I cannot trace His hand
I can always trust His heart

The old rule for seamen in a fierce storm is this: "In the storm we can do but one thing. There is only one way to survive; we must put the ship in a certain position and keep her there.”Sometimes you can see neither sun nor stars. Reason cannot help, past experiences give you no light. The only course of action that makes sense is to put your soul in position and keep it there. “ Lash yourself to the helm and hold fast to your confidence in God’s faithfulness and His everlasting love in Jesus Christ.” ( comment from Richard Fuller )

The Apostle Paul said, “…For when I am weak, then I am strong.” You may find yourself in difficulties today or you may be around someone else who is overwhelmed. You can be a part of their miracle by holding a firm position of faith.
