Connecting Points

A Psalm of connection on this Friday morning.

Psalm 23

A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I have everything I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk through the dark valley of death, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You welcome me as a guest, anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.

The term “world-wide web” is known as the connection we have via computers to anywhere in the world. Through this web we can not just get connected, we ARE connected. The new buzz word is “Glocal”, or globally local. We have in us this need for community. When I was a child that community was much smaller. Now with the touch of the mouse I can relate one on one instantly with anyone in the world who has a computer. We have always had that instant connection with God. He is there 24/7 with a listening ear and a providential hand.

“A hidden connection is stronger than a obvious one”
Heraclitus of Ephesus ( Greek Philosopher 540-480 BC )

There is a time for learning and a time to play. Don’t miss the vital connection between them.

A hymn of connection penned by John Fawcett in 1782:
( Go ahead, sing it as you read)

Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christian love;
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above.

Before our Father’s throne
We pour our ardent prayers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one
Our comforts and our cares.

We share each other’s woes,
Our mutual burdens bear;
And often for each other flows
The sympathizing tear.

When we asunder part,
It gives us inward pain;
But we shall still be joined in heart,
And hope to meet again.

This glorious hope revives
Our courage by the way;
While each in expectation lives,
And longs to see the day.

From sorrow, toil and pain,
And sin, we shall be free,
And perfect love and friendship reign
Through all eternity.
