What is it really like to be you ?

Here is what Dr. Henry Cloud says about unity in his book, “Integrity- The courage to meet the demands of reality”.

“Unity forms around mutual care based on empathy. But it comes from getting out of your own experience and into the experience of what it is like to be the other person, and then completing the loop by letting them know that you have heard it…..When it is completed like that, then not only did you hear and understand, but the other person understands that you understand, and the connection has occurred.”

It is the old “until you have walked in my shoes, you can’t really know how I am feeling.” I guess I need to borrow the shoes of others today (spiritually, of course) and sense the tastes, colors, smells, sounds and feelings from a new perspective. It is not enough just to try them on. The real experience requires taking a walk in them.

The Bible says that Jesus experienced all the temptations common to man, but did not sin. He walked in your shoes and knows how you feel. You can trust His hand to provide what you need today.
