I highly recommend that everyone find a way to do the vacation thing. I have been one to do vacation a day or two at a time through the years, but the past ten days out of the office and away from the normal routine has been therapeutic to me. Yes, it did cost some money (which we had saved for), and it meant some projects were put on hold, but now that I am back in the saddle, I find that people and things survived quite well in my absence. Actually, some things seem to have been more efficient when done by others. It gives people a chance to discover gifts and talents that stay on the shelf with me “running” the project. My heart is thankful for the opportunity to be refreshed and excited about some new ways of thinking. As you can tell, I didn’t even update my blog every day last week. I still did some “facebook” updates as inspiration hit me.
I did some great reading while on vacation. It was early in the morning at the base of a mountain that I read the following from Bill Johnson’s book, “Dreaming with God”:
“God is so secure in His sovereignty that He is not afraid to appear un-sovereign.”
“We were born to create, to build and to advance. This requires an ongoing display of supernatural wisdom to succeed.”
“One of the most natural parts of being created in the image of God is the ability to dream.”
