Choosing leaders and servants

Those who stay away from the election think that one vote will do no good: 'Tis but one step more to think one vote will do no harm.
* Ralph Waldo Emerson

One of our greatest freedoms is manifested today in our action at the voting polls. Many elections have been decided by a single vote. We have heard much this year about the importance of grass roots turnout on election day. Your voice needs to be heard and this is a great way to make a difference. I am always fascinated while watching the election results by the fact that one of those numbers is mine. If I had not voted, that number on all the major networks, all the media outlets and all the websites, would be one number different. It is kind of like looking at a photograph of the earth from space. I know that I am in that picture. The founders of our nation were wise to design the system to allow us to choose or leaders. They installed a system of checks and balances so that power would not rest in the hands of one entity. That principle makes the congressional races as important as the presidential race. Prayerfully enter that voting booth today and ask God for wisdom. His promise is that He will give it. Joshua wrote: “Choose you this day who you will serve.” On this election day we also get to choose who will serve us.

God Bless America.

Ballots are the rightful and peaceful successors to bullets.
* Abraham Lincoln
