Top of the Marnin' to ya !

I was doing some research this morning on the Irish I remember Grandpa telling me one time that there is a small amount of Irish blood in me. I love the Irish accent and music. I found the following paragraph of information about Irish music: “Their music is produced with instruments that have been used for centuries, including the fiddle, the uilleann pipes (a sort of elaborate bagpipe), the tin whistle (a sort of flute that is actually made of nickel-silver, brass, or aluminum), and the bodhran (an ancient type of framedrum that was traditionally used in warfare rather than music).” This caught my attention since we have been studying the scriptures lately and finding that many times in the Old Testament, the Praise Team ( Judah) was sent to the front lines of battle even before the soldiers. After the band and choir got done, the soldiers went in and finished the battle. It is a reminder that Isaiah 55 is true when we are told that God’s ways are not our ways.

I am fascinated by the fact that St. Patrick was a missionary bring Christianity to Ireland by driving out the “Snakes”. In fact, Ireland was never home to any snakes. The "banishing of the snakes" was really a metaphor for the eradication of pagan ideology (the Druids) from Ireland and the triumph of Christianity. Within two hundred years of Patrick's arrival, Ireland was completely Christianized.
It is a story of the power of the Gospel that, when planted will produce for generations to come. God’s Word will not return void. It gives me exciting hope that if I plant the Word today someone will be different two hundred years from now. We are part of something bigger than we realize. And that’s no blarney.
