The Entrance of Peace

Sermon notes from the second Sunday of Advent:

Wonderful Peace
Peace, Peace, wonderful peace
Coming down from the father above
Sweep over my spirit forever I pray
In fathomless bellows of love

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Peace that passes understanding
Revelation 1:4 To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne,
Proverbs 14:30 A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.
Haggai 2:9 The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,' says the LORD Almighty. 'And in this place I will grant peace,' declares the LORD Almighty."
Leviticus 26:6 'I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove savage beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country.
2 Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Imperatives
Philippians 4:4-9 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
1. Rejoice in the Lord always
2. Let your gentleness be made known to everyone
3. Do not worry about anything
Worry kills
4 Reasons Not to Worry
1. Worrying Accomplishes Absolutely Nothing.
2. Worrying is Not Good for You.
3. Worrying is the Opposite of Trusting God.
4. Worrying Puts Your Focus in the Wrong Direction.
In everything let your requests be made known to God
in prayer (general)

5. Think about these things - -
whatever is true
whatever is honorable
whatever is just
whatever is pure
whatever is pleasing
whatever is commendable
any excellence
anything worthy of praise
Keep on doing the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me

Assurances
1. The Lord is near
2. The Peace of God (which surpasses all understanding)
a. Will enter in
b. will guard your hearts (emotional control)
c. will guard your minds (mental stability)
3. The God of Peace will be with you
