We build an altar with our hearts when we turn our attention toward God. The bible lists several people who built and worshipped at altars. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob built altars of wood and human construction where the presence of God could come down and consume the sacrifice. Today we build altars spiritually since God does not dwell in temples of wood but in temples of flesh.
The altar is a place of sacrifice, a place of calling, a place of worship, a place of revelation, a place of remembrance, a place of awakening, a place of solutions, a place of connection and a place of rest.
Matthew 11:28-30 tells us to come to Jesus and He will give us that which we need to survive the load. The “Take my yoke upon you” concept takes on new significance when we realize that being “yoked” means we go where God goes and not our own way. Trying to go our own way while connected with the yoke is a painful experience. Rather than casting our burdens on God and going our way-let’s give them to God and go with Him.
Great advice for our busy lives.
