Blowing on the embers from both sides of the fire
I still remember the first time I learned that blowing on hot embers would re-ignite the fire. My only experience to that point was that blowing on a fire (such as a birthday candle) puts the fire out. Watching my father blow on the campfire and seeing it ignite was one of those moments that opened my eyes of understanding of the science of fire and the movement of air. I have since experienced the re-igniting of embers that looked totally cold. Even the slightest spark still in the ember is enough to be the seed of a great conflagration. The lesson is clear. With the breath of God breathing on the embers of faith and the breath of man on the other side, co-laboring with God, the fires of revival are possible. I cannot explain why God chose to co-labor with man in this endeavor, but He did. It must be based on God’s love for mankind.
