My preaching theme this year is “Discipleship”. It was an exciting day at church yesterday with a full house, leaving us with the need to reconfigure the sanctuary to make a better seating arrangement. We are always glad for those kinds of challenges. We were also blessed with some special music visiting teenage granddaughters of two different families. We were also reminded of our resposibilities as we prayed over the many infants and toddlers. We are seeing a need to ramp up our nursury and cradle roll ministries. Praise God!!!
As with all maturity areas in life, there is a process that we need to follow to become true disciples. That means we have big questions to answer honestly to ourselves. Below is the process as I described it in the sermon yesterday:
The Discipleship Process
Awareness- Where I am now?
Focus- Where does God want to take me?
Preparation- How must I live to get there?
Freedom- How will I stay the course?
It seems to me that a regular look at these questions will keep us in line with God’s will. Staying in the will if God is the single most important determination we ever make in life. It is worth figuring out.
