Three words that have become favorites in our culture:
Quick,
Easy
Definitive
It seems people are looking for these qualities in order to get to the next item on their agenda. It seems to me that these words have gotten a bad rap in some cases because they have become synonymous with sloppy, lazy and intolerant. The fact is that we are busy people needing to find ways to make these words mean “efficient”. The trigger for my thoughts on this today came from some early morning reading in the book,: “Transformational Discipleship”. The question was asked, “How can you tell if believers are disciples?” The answer was given as, “By listening to what they say about the master.” The words that we use are a snapshot of our heart’s abundance. People can say things they do not mean but over time their real passions will emerge through their words. I need to listen to myself to see what I am really saying about Jesus Christ. Yesterday’s blog was about boiling down our philosophy. This is about boiling down our discipleship to see where it really is. It is a quick, easy and definitive test to see how we are doing. By the way, if done correctly, it is not judgement, it is fruit inspection.
