The Marketplace

I recommend the book “Velvet Elvis” by Rob Bell, as a book that will open your thought patterns in some new areas. At one point in the book, he is conveying how God views man. This is key because if we believe that God has a view of man that says man does not have potential, then we are hopeless. The fact is that we were created with so much potential that we could not exhaust it. There is always an upside to the next level. Here is a quote from p. 134 in the book,: “God has an incredibly high view of people. God believes that people are capable of amazing things. The rabbi (Jesus) thinks we can be like Him” This statement was made in the midst of a great dissertation of the way that the rabbi in the Jewish tradition has those that he pours his life into so they can devote their lives to full time ministry. The call from God goes out widely and man is designed with that potential. He must choose if he is serious about God or not. Jesus took 12 unlikely men and changed the course of human history. That change make the marketplace look different. We live and walk in that marketplace.

The marketplace operates (or tries to operate) without Jesus and misses the main point of life. It’s time the “Church” gets bold enough to be the ambassador we were intended to be. We have done fairly well in world missions but now it’s time to do what we were called first to do and that is to bring the truth of God to those closest to us.

It’s a great time to be alive!
