Significance in Insignificant Places

In this day of economic challenges that many say rival the 1930’s, it is important to understand that God is waiting to do something extra for us. The principle of sowing and reaping is intact today and is not dependent on the state of the economy or the strength of our 401K retirement account. This is a time that the church will grow spiritually, numerically and financially if we take care of what is important to God. The real question for us to ask ourselves is “What are my priorities?” If I believe that God is my source and the source of every blessing, I open the door for the miraculous. For example, in Malachi chapter 3 we find God’s promise concerning our tithe. God promises that if His people will bring all their tithe into the storehouse, He will pour out a blessing that they cannot contain. When we give sacrificially to missions we are showing how to love God’s people God’s way. When we do that correctly, we find significance in insignificant places. ( Expand your Reach: Finding Significance in an Insignificant Place.) is a book written by Randy Valimont, PH.D. He believes God intends our church to be a missionary-sending agency. We need to be focused on the task.

I read some statistics that boggle the mind. There are almost 6.6 billion people in the world. 1.2 billion of those live on an average of 23 cents a day. 2 Billion have no electricity, 80% live in substandard housing, 1 billion are without safe drinking water, every 16 seconds someone dies of hunger, 57 million people died in 2006, 10.5 million of those were children under the age of 5,

Meanwhile;

$8 billion was spent on cosmetics in America in 2005, $11 billion on ice cream, $ 17 billion on pet food, $ 105 billion on alcohol just in Europe.
God wants to pour His resources into churches that will bless the world with the message of Jesus Christ. We need to be available and willing to be a conduit of God’s grace and mercy.
