Serving Well

Making our service fruitful is always a challenge worth accepting. It is easy to look like we are serving and then not really doing anything of value. The first rule is based on a verse from Ephesians Chapter 6 verse 7: “Serve Wholeheartedly”
Here are six keys to excellence in our serving:

1. Pray for a teachable loving heart
2. Choose to be a learner
3. Build friendships
4. Make the commitment
5. Spread the word
6. Have fun

Those keys are huge in our success level of our serving. A good exercise for this Christmas season would be to measure the things we are calling “service” with those six criteria. Set some benchmarks for each of them and really see if you are making a difference or just treading water. Today is the day to make it count.

"I Know Who Holds Tomorrow"
by Ira Stanphill

I don't know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
And I don't borrow from its sunshine
'Cause the skies might turn to grey.
And I don't worry about the future,
'Cause I know what Jesus said,
And today I'm gonna walk right beside him
'Cause he's the one who knows what is ahead.
Many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.

And each step is getting brighter
As the golden stairs I climb.
And every burden is getting lighter
And all the clouds are silver lined.
And, over there the sun is always shining
And no tears will ever dim the eye
And the ending of the rainbow
Where the mountains, they touch the sky.
Many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.
