A food memorial

Exodus 16:32 Moses said, "This is what the LORD has commanded: 'Take an omer of manna and keep it for the generations to come, so they can see the bread I gave you to eat in the desert when I brought you out of Egypt.'"

This is one of my favorite memorials in the Bible. It was considered so important that it was to be placed in the Ark of the Covenant. The reminder of God's provision during a huge transition time will keep you going during difficult times in your future. Food is such a key thing in our lives. Our differences in taste preference gives us great launching points for discussion. In the case of the manna, it was the only thing they had to eat. It sustained them through a time when there was no other food. It is hard for us to imagine a lack of variety but this also serves as a reminder that there are millions in the world today who would be happy with just a small bit of food. Something to think about as we give thanks and remember today.
God is merciful.
