Bring on the Adversity

A John Maxwell quote from his book, “The 17 Essential Qualities of a Team Player”:

"People don’t really know whether they are committed to something until they face adversity. Struggle strengthens a person’s resolve. Adversity fosters commitment, and commitment fosters hard work. And the more you work on something, the less likely you are to give up on it.”

This is an interesting concept because our nature is to try to avoid struggles while we end up valuing what we struggle. There is a connection between people who face adversity together that can come no other way. Those kinds of relationships tend to go deeper than those that have no adversity to deal with.

As I go into the day today, I know of no major adversity issues waiting for me to walk out the door. There are, however, ongoing struggles that I will choose to either participate in or ignore today. If the quote at the beginning of this blog is true, There is value to me in facing them head on.

A quote from Theodore Roosevelt. “ Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
