I read an article this morning in Discipleship Journal that gave great practical advice in studying the Bible or leading a small group in study of a Bible verse.
Dick Renfro brings out a four step method for analyzing verses:
Rephrase the passage- Re write it in your own words to help you think through it.
Read the surrounding verses- This brings the context into view and guards against misunderstanding
Write questions- In the pre study time, write down questions to be pondered. Perhaps key words or concepts that the verse brings out
Develop a specific application- He says, "Life change, not head knowledge is the goal
The Word of God is Life to us. It is worth digging into.
