There is more than we understand

Yesterday's sermon was an expression of something that has been stirring in me as I prepare to start a series on the subject of integrity. Our service to God and man becomes of no effect if we lack integrity. It seems to me that God is reminding me of His ability to understand with a depth that goes beyond me. He desires to increase my capacity to see it.

Below is one of my favorite prayers of the Apostle Paul to the church at Ephesus:

"I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God."
- Ephesians 3:16-19

There is one other verse that came to me in this vein. Deuteronomy 33:27 tells us that when we are at the bottom, God's arms are under us. He is "your refuge, and His everlasting arms are under you..." (Deuteronomy 33:27 NLT).That tells me that the bottom for me is not the bottom for God. For my friends who are struggling with extreme hurt right now, I remind you of the fact that God is bigger than your problem.

God is faithful.
