I woke up this morning thinking about the lyrics to an old gospel song that I have not sung for years.
Thanks to Chuck Lawrence for penning the following words:
HE MOLDED AND BUILT A SMALL LONELY HILL
THAT HE KNEW WOULD BE CALLED CALVARY.
THEN HE MADE THE SEED THAT WOULD GROW TO BE
THORNS THAT WOULD MAKE HIS SON BLEED.
THEN HE MADE A GREEN STEM
GAVE IT LEAVES AND THEN GAVE IT SUNSHINE AND RAIN AND
SHELTERED IT WITH MOSS.
HE GREW THE TREE HE KNEW WOULD BE
USED TO MAKE THE OLD RUGGED CROSS.
It's one of those things that makes me go "WOW!"

You are loved !
The majority if my devotional thoughts deal with my love for God. Every once in awhile He reminds me, with a Bible verse or an old hymn, of His wonderful love for me. Early this morning I found this old hymn residing in my heart. I hope it blesses you like it did me. Thank you Phillip Bliss for penning this about 140 years ago.
I am so Glad that our Father in Heaven
Tells of His love in the Book He has giv’n
Wonderful things in the Bible I see;
This is the dearest, that Jesus loves me
I am so Glad that Jesus love me, Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me
I am so glad that Jesus loves me, Jesus loves even me.
Tho’ I forget Him and wander away
Still He doth love me wherever I stray
Back to His dear loving arms would I flee
When I remember that Jesus loves me
I am so Glad that Jesus love me, Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me
I am so glad that Jesus loves me, Jesus loves even me.
Oh, if there’s only one song I can sing
When in His beauty I see the great king
This shall my song in eternity be
Oh, what a wonder that Jesus loves me
I am so Glad that Jesus love me, Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me
I am so glad that Jesus loves me, Jesus loves even me.
I am so Glad that our Father in Heaven
Tells of His love in the Book He has giv’n
Wonderful things in the Bible I see;
This is the dearest, that Jesus loves me
I am so Glad that Jesus love me, Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me
I am so glad that Jesus loves me, Jesus loves even me.

Some thoughts on the love of God
Some thoughts from yesterday's sermon on the Love of God to carry through the Christmas season.
1 John 3:1 tells us that God has lavished His love on us.
"See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!
God is infinitely LOVING.
A.W. Tozer once wrote:
"I can no more do justice to this awesome and wonder-filled topic than a child can grasp a star."
God's love is so hard for us to get a handle on is because our Heavenly Father doesn't love like we humans tend to love.
Christmas shows us that God's love is ETERNAL. I read a line yesterday that seems to say it all:
"God's POWER is the HOW of creation but His LOVE is the WHY." God has been loving YOU since before the dawn of time.
God's love is PERSONAL.
When God sent His Son into the world,He had you and me as individuals in mind.
In going after the one lost lamb ,Jesus showed that He would have given His life if there was only you.
To Him EACH of us is invaluable!
"There are many reasons God saves you: to bring glory to Himself, to appease His justice, to demonstrate His sovereignty. But one of the sweetest reasons God saved you is because He [LOVES] of you. He likes having you around. He thinks you're the best thing to come down the pike in quite a while...If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every Spring, and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe and He chose your heart. And the Christmas give He sent you in Bethlehem? Face it friend, He's crazy about you!"
- Max LucadoGod's love is a PERSONAL love that seeks each of us.
God's love is UNCONDITIONAL.we are not naturally lovable people. Romans 5:8 says, "...God demonstrates His love for us in this. While we were still sinners Christ died for us."
God's love is SACRIFICIAL.
Our gifts pale in comparison to the sacrificial Gift of God.
That is why God gave us Christmas.
