God Thinking

Yesterday was the birthday of William Shakespear. I like one of his quotes about our creator.

"He that made us with such large discourse, looking before and after, gave us not that capability and godlike reason to rust in us unused."

The fact that God created us with the ability to communicate would indicate that He expects us to do so. When God makes the request in Scripture: "Come let us reason together", He is opening the door for us to see His mind. We will never be able to totally understand the way God does, but we are blessed with insights that are available to us. It makes sense to avail ourselves of them.

Thinking

I read a great Forest Gumpism this morning. Good advice: "Don't play the piano with jelly on your fingers. Also, don't play the saxophone with jelly in your mouth."
We really ned to stop and think before we do things. Instinctively we act or react sometimes, but a second or two of preparation can really help the situation. Thinking smart is also good advice from the Word of God.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-- think about such things.

There are times that thinking needs to be quick in order to avoid the old "paralysis by anaylsis" problem, but that thought process still needs to be used. Thinking things through before acting will be a great way to count the cost and to tweak the direction at the beginning instead of making major course adjustments down the road.

I am asking myself this morning, "What am I doing today that I have not put to the thought test?" My brain needs the exercise anyway.
